Critically lauded author, Jennifer Asbenson, talks about her new memoir, “The Girl in the Treehouse,” which centers on an innocent girl growing up in a geodesic home with no heat or running water, who, at just 19, was raped, brutally tortured and nearly murdered by 8-time serial killer Andrew Urdiales in the California desert in 1992. Asbenson, who ultimately escaped from the trunk of the car, IS that girl and ultimately faced him at trial, putting him away for life. It is a story of winning against all odds, facing seemingly insurmountable demons and with indefatigable persistence, coming out the other side.
